Funeral (Janazah) of Sister Clara Muhammad, wife of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad (leader of the Nation of Islam)
Description
Funeral (Janazah) of Sister Clara Muhammad, wife of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad (leader of the Nation of Islam)" There are private schools named after her all over the country. Her emphasis was on education. She home-schooled her children. There are Muslims in Syracuse who come from this group of Muslims in Chicago. Imam Warith Dead Mohammed was Elijah's son and put out of the Nation of Islam (along with his best friend, Malcolm X) by his father Elijah for interpreting Islam differently. As a result, he was not allowed to walk in the central procession at his mother's funeral. He is on the right side of the photograph. Photo by: Wali Amin Muhammad ? August, 1971 Chicago Ill.
