First Black Episcopal Church in Syracuse, St. Philip's Church, held a baby contest in 1943. St. Philip's was destroyed in Urban Renewal for I-81. From left to right, unknown, unknown, Sammie Elizabeth Page with baby Elizabeth Ann Page, unknown, unknown, Jaliqua's mother with son, Mr. Mattison with daughter Patricia Mattison. Proud Mothers with babies entered in a recent contest at St. Philip's Episcopal church, 209 Elmond st. Also a father, sister and brothers. The rector, Rev. Victor Emanuel Holley, is in the center.
